Peaks of Life cruised up Rainier again on August 25th to advocate our cause and connect with climbers on the mountain. Thatcher and Forrest left Paradise at 6:00 pm brandishing the Peaks of Life banner. The weather was great and smoke from the Elbe fire provided a beautiful sunset. After a brief stop at Muir, the climb continued up the Disappointment Cleaver. The route is amazing and the guide services have done an incredible job working around the open glaciers this year. Sunrise was watched from just below the summit with the alpenglow illuminating a lenticular cloud. Up top winds were HIGH so after a quick hello the team descended. Unfortunately the trip down was a bit slow due to a knee injury sustained by Forrest, but Thatcher was patient and put up with his hobbling partner quite well. By 4:00 PM the two were back in the car and ready for some real food. Bum knee aside, it was a great trip and a fantastic opportunity to discuss our mission and children's healthcare with other climbers.
